Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun has said that the process of recovering funds looted by public officials is ongoing.
She however revealed that the government had also recovered property assets, cars and jewelry from looters.
Adeosun made the comments on Thursday, October 27, during a presentation at the National Assembly.
“The
process of recovering looted fund is an ongoing process. Indeed money
comes almost on daily basis into those accounts. We have not recovered
much from foreign money. It is a little more difficult,” she said.
Information Minister, Lai Mohammed had earlier said that the government had so far recovered N78bn and $3m in looted funds.
He
also said that $9bn had been located in accounts which had been frozen
but the money would not be available to the government until the
necessary court processes are resolved.
