Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs Marik String Travels to Lithuania and Bulgaria November 12-15, 2018.
In Vilnius, Lithuania, Deputy Assistant Secretary String will join senior Department of State and Department of Defense officials on the U.S. delegation to the U.S.-Baltic Dialogue with senior government and military representatives from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
In Sofia, Bulgaria, Deputy Assistant Secretary String will meet with senior officials to discuss military modernization plans, among a wide range of related security and defense trade issues.
Security assistance efforts and defense trade overseen by the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs contribute toward building key military capabilities for NATO Allies that are essential to address global security challenges. Transatlantic defense trade promotes modernization and enhances the military strength of the Alliance by enabling NATO members to meet their commitments under the Wales Defense Investment Pledge.
